I’ll get to posting today’s recipe later on, but I just had to vent and grieve that I finally made the (smart) decision to sell the gorgeous, sleek, red VITAMIX blender the hubs bought me two Christmas’s ago.

Vitamix 1

It was a beautiful Christmas morning when I opened that big VITAMIX box, and when I saw that he went out of his way to get me a red one to match our kitchen my stomach got butterflies and I remembered why I fell in love with him. Or maybe I was just feeling the morning sickness. Yep. About a week after Christmas I found out I was pregnant with the girl. Probably shouldn’t have downed so many champagne punches when the in-laws were here Christmas Day…but oh well. It was Christmas. With In-Laws. Don’t judge.

I had all these visions of making hot soup and green smoothies for my family with this blender. I was determined to get the hubs and the boy eating veggies any way I could and if pulverizing them into liquid form was the only way then so be it.

Of course. I didn’t. And it sat. And got dusty. And the ginormous 64 oz container would not fit under my cabinets so it sat awkwardly on top of the fridge. It sat looking all sad all throughout the morning sickness, the feel-good second trimester where I just ate everything because I could finally keep it down..and the last three fat months where I was just too exhausted to elephantine to maneuver something as complicated as a blender.

Vitamix 2

(I mean really…look at this thing! It’s like Sputnik!)

All the while I kept telling the hubs that I would use it….Oneday…. I promise. I’ll get back on my smoothie kick and use it. I promise! So today, almost six months after the girl came into the world I did get the giant blender down and make a smoothie for the boy and me for breakfast.

It was HEINOUS. The giant 64 oz blender requires huge amounts of liquid to ice/fruit and so I over did it on the water and we really had chocolate blueberry water for breakfast.

I give up. I admit it. This kitchen appliance is not for this real family. Sorry blendy….I tried. A little. You are now listed on ebay and I’m sure you’ll go to a new home where they will love you and make hot soup, green smoothies  and grind grains in you everyday.

Meanwhile I’m going to Target to buy another Magic Bullet so the boy and I can have a proper freakin’ smoothie for breakfast tomorrow. I’m not sure what I was thinking when I asked for this thing. It’s 1:00pm on a Friday and me and both kids are still in our jammies. We are not raw-food-green-smoothie-hot-soup-we-eat-so-many-veggies-we-have-to-get-them-from-the-farmers-market kind of people.
