I swore off cooking the entire weekend for Mother’s Day and I just can’t seem to get back into the swing of things. Plus, it’s like 129 degrees in the South so I’ve just been letting the hubs do his daddy-grill-thang.
It’s not supposed to get back to normal temps until this weekend, so while I’m not cooking I thought I’d take these few days to share some of my new favorite things with you.
The first of which has become a slight obsession. I’ve used wall decals before, but it was a few years ago and they were pricey and there wasn’t a huge variety. Now they are everywhere. And they are CHEAP. You can find almost anything you are looking for on Ebay or Etsy. And I did.
And I stuck them everywhere.
Everywhere.
In fact, I put them in so many rooms in my house that the hubs put a ban on any more wall decals in the house. *Sigh* I didn’t have a chance to put the giant skeleton key decals in the dining room.
My first foray into the newer and hipper wall decals was the boys playroom. I tried to talk him into going with a forest playground theme, but sadly we ended up with this:
But he loves it. I’m waiting patiently for the ‘Mario/Spongebob’ stage to pass. But it’s going very slowly.
The next thing I did was the huge empty space above the girls crib. I had a hard time deciding on which decal to use here. I wanted a text decal with the words to Golden Slumber by the Beatles but ended up going with this instead.
Afte r this one was applied and adjusted, I moved on to the boys bedroom. He has tons of cool vintage number signs and pirate theme decorations, but the dead space above his top bunk always bugged me. Until the boy and I spent a giggly afternoon sticking these super cool star stickers up there.
My next target was the boys bathroom. He recently decided he was over the yellow rubber ducky theme that has been in there since we bought the house, so we went with a vintage Route 66 theme instead. He picked out a very cool canvas with a map of the US done in state license plates. (Not shown) So I put the leftover stars from his bedroom above the potty and a vintage bath sign decal above the towel rack.
The hubs thinks the stars above the toilet look like a lower back tramp stamp. He is such a man. I mean really, how do you get trashy tramp stamp out of that?
The last room I stickered was the downstairs bathroom. This room will most likely end up getting demo’d and remodeled before we sell this house, but for now..it looks fresh and hip with the new addition of my cool text decal.
So I suppose I may have gone a bit crazy with the decals. But the beauty of this type of decorating is that it’s temporary. And it’s so affordable that you don’t mind it’s temporary.
