In an effort to make up for the obscene lack of posts around here the past few weeks, I am going to barrage you with information today.

At least that is the plan. I really shouldn’t promise anything though since I seem to be currently experiencing some bad karma for something I did in a past life or something.

In the past four days the boy has had the stomach flu and nearly missed his Pre-K graduation and the girl contracted  a wicked cold and has been running a low grade fever for days and sneezing up nasty stuff that I didn’t think babies could make. My grumpy old cat gave me poison ivy, my laptop completely crashed and my house is so messy that I don’t even know where to start to make it all right.

So even though my plan is to post post post today…it’s probably won’t happen. But while the girl is mesmerized by Bubble Guppies I can share this tip my mom gave me over the weekend. How to microwave rice! Brilliant time saver.

Especially good for me because my beloved rice steamed nearly burned my house down a few weeks ago.

Props to Real Mom Recipes’ Mommy for this tip:

Microwave Rice

In a microwave-safe baking dish or medium bowl, combine 1 cup long-grain white rice, 2 cups water, and ½ teaspoon salt. Microwave, uncovered, on high (power level 10) until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed, 15 to 18 minutes.
